Radio awards moved again
28 October 2016
CELEBRITY Check, an online magazine organising the inaugural Zimbabwe Radio Awards has postponed the awards ceremony for the second time.
The awards ceremony, which was first slated for July 16 then they were moved to October 29, has now been moved to November 5.
Sources who spoke to H-Metro on condition of anonymity, said the organisers changed the date and venue because they had failed to pay money for the venue (7 Arts Theatre) in time.
However, ZIRA refuted the claim.
In an interview, ZIRA administration Leonard Pumuyo said:
“We are not facing any financial challenges, the reason why we moved dates again is because some of the top guests to grace the event, informed us that they will not be able to make it this Friday.”
Pumuyo added the event is first of its kind hence they want to start on a great note.
“You need to understand that this is a first edition of such awards so we want the event to be spectacular that’s why it’s taking time to put everything in place,” he added.
He, however, said preparations for the ceremony have been finalised and the event will take place on November 5 at the Celebration Centre in Borrowdale and the closing date for voting is October 29.
