BLACK Rhinos are confident that they can strengthen the team to ensure a successful 2018 season.

Club Secretary General Camble Sithole says they are already making efforts to fill in the gaps left by right back Jameson Mukombwe and veteran Brighton Chandisaita.

Mukombwe joined FC Platinum while Chandisaita has since retired.

“We have not signed players as yet because we are still to assign a new person as head coach which has kind of taken our progress one step back, but tomorrow we are to finalise our decision.

“We have a number of players to replace, the likes Jameson Mukombwe who moved to FC Platinum on loan and Brighton Chandisaita who retired from professional football in December, so we are looking to strengthen our defence,” said Sithole.

Indications are Herbert Maruwa will be the head coach.

“Considerable progress has been slowed down because we could not sign a coach but in the coming days everything else will be in motion.

On defender Sydney Linyama, he said: “He is still contracted to us and he has done his fair share of contribution to the success of the team

“He is staying with us; you know players when faced with other options they tend to get confused but he is still our player.”

Veteran Benjamin Marere is out of contract.

“Marere’s contract expired end of December and the executive endorses the renewal of his contract.

“Signing the striker is important to us. We love his style of play and we are looking to protect his experience.”
