Sex at knife point

A MBARE High school teacher has accused her estranged husband of demanding sex at knife point.
Melody Muzanenhamo opened up at the Harare civil court where she was seeking for protection against her husband Richard Muzanenhamo.
“He is my husband and we have been married for 16 years but we are no longer staying together because of his violent behaviour towards me.
“He is in the habit of assaulting me whenever he visits my new place of residence.
“Sometimes he forces me to have sex with him when I am not interested.
“Last week, he came and found my gate locked and scaled over the wall and entered the house,” she said.
Melody also said she was living in fear of Richard as a result of his violent conduct.
“He recently broke into my kitchen and took a knife from the drawers and came straight to my bed and forced me to have sex with him which I did.
“He sometimes assaults me until all of my clothes and inner garments are ripped apart in the presents of our children. I have lost the pride and dignity as a mother in the eyes of my children,” she added.
In response, Richard opposed the granting of the protection order.
“I’m opposed to the application because she is the one who left our matrimonial home to ensure she gets involved with different men.
“When she left, she told me that she was going to live with her parents only to later realise that she was renting an apartment,” he said.
Richard accused Melody of engaging in marital affairs at the time they stayed together.
“There are several people who advised me of her boyfriends that sneaked in into her premises at night and that is why I had started going there almost every night without her knowledge.
“I’m not disturbing her peace but doing what every responsible husband would do to her wife,” he said.
The presiding magistrate granted protection order in Melody’s favour and advised Richard to desist from violence.
