Slain Nun laid to rest
. . . suspect remanded in custody
A Roman Catholic sister, who was recently murdered in Mutoko while praying, was buried at Chishawasha Cemetery last Friday.
Sister Plaxedes Kamundiya, popularly known as Ruvadiki, is said to have been attacked by one Enock Potani.
The late composer was laid to rest at the catholic shrine.
Sister Kamundiya was also an official at St Georges’ where she was a teacher.
It is alleged that Potani raped the deceased and then stoned her to death before throwing her body in Mutemwa dam.
The suspect appeared at Mutoko Magistrates Court on October 26.
He was remanded in custody to November 8.
In an interview, one of the catholic members who refused to be named said:
“Sister Kamundiya fought a good fight, it’s a pity that she has left us in that way (murdered).
“Inzira yedu tese, it’s inevitable that we will all die so it reminds us that we should prepare for the day.
“She has done the best during her material life and I would like to urge all the people who are still alive to continue consecrating their lives to the Lord because no one knows the day (death day).
“Sister Kamundiya died whilst she was at the shrine and it motivates Christians to do better.”
The late Sister Kamundiya is well known for composing catholic songs and she was part of the Harare Composers Association.
