A soldier has been accused of failing to pay his children’s school fees by his wife.
Shupikayi Mutasa claimed that her husband, Abel Mutasa was not being a responsible since he was failing to take his children’s studies seriously.
“We stay together but I do not understand how his finances work. He does not buy food or even pay the children’s school fees.
“He bought cattle at the farm a long time ago and he should not give that as an excuse. He has to be responsible and take care of the children,” she said.
Abel argued that his salary was not sufficient to pay US$200 as claimed by his wife.
He told magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa that he is receiving a net salary of US$113 since he is repaying a loan he acquired from the bank to purchase cattle and develop his farm.
“I am offering US$50 for the two children. I do not have the kind of money that my wife is seeking. I am also paying US$65 maintenance for another child,” argued Abel.
He was ordered to pay US$150 for the two children.
