THREE Epworth men allegedly drugged a Harare man and duped him of his $2800.
Witness Taurai Magumbu was arrested over the case while the other two are still at large.
The trio is said to have drugged Kenneth Mubaiwa who is a farmer and asked him the pin number for his bank card before using all the money in his account.
The accused persons went on to purchase three television sets, three amplifiers, three DVD players and three generators.
According to the police, the trio bought two orange Senwei SW950 and a yellow Senwei SW 1500 generators, 2 x 2 in one blankets, three x 32 inch television sets.
The furniture was hidden at the accused person’s place at No. 7629 Domboramwari, Epworth and the other two had already left as they were aware of the police’s search on them.
Property recovered is worth $2600 and the other $200 was spent on beer, Taurai said.
Police caught Taurai after they overheard their conversation whilst they were having refreshments on April 16 at Nzou Sports Bar in cell 7 Epworth.
The police are still making investigations so that they can find the remaining culprits.
“We are trying our best to find the other two accused persons and also we hope that Taurai will tell us their names; they escaped when we ran after them on the 16th of April and we managed to catch Taurai,” said Epworth Officer in Charge Inspector Robert Chipengo.
