. . .  ‘I’m not panicking’
. . . ‘I work on my pace’
. . . ‘I value my fans’

SULUMAN Chimbetu says he is not under pressure to release a new album before year-end as is the case with most top artistes ahead of the money-spinning festive season, writes Trust Khosa.

The Orchestra Dendera Kings boss, who now spends most of his time in his Mabelreign studios, says is working on his pace.

In fact, Sulu says he would not lose sleep over what other artistes are doing at their camps as he believes in quality.

He opened up on his plans for the last quarter of 2017 to H-Metro saying fans will definitely get something before year end if all go according to script.

Among the top artistes set to release the albums are Jah Prayzah who is set to launch his own October 13 at the Harare International Conference Centre.

Sungura ace Alick Macheso is reportedly set to release his album next month – the same period Winky D’s album is widely believed he will unveil launch his.

Pastor Charles Charamba and wife Olivia have since released their respective albums but it should be mentioned that Sulu has kept his fans guessing for a while.

On his plans, Sulu has assured his fans – the crooner prefers calling denderarians – something might come next month.

“I’m not under pressure to release an album as widely believed by many, especially haters who do not want to see us make it,” says the crooner.

The 35-year-old says he believes in quality and doesn’t want to give fans half-baked stuff.

“As one of the mainstream artistes, we believe in quality and it would be unfair to give our fans half-baked stuff.

“I have been working in the studio with my producers and we are making remarkable progress.”

While Sulu embraces completion, the singer scoffs at reports that he is in panic mode following his fortunes which took a wane in the beginning of the year.

He says he has not been deterred by his marital woes with first wife Marigold Mutemasanga which saw him spending much of his time in the corridors of the courts.

“Well, such things do occur in life and in my case; I embrace each and every month.

“I take every situation in life as it comes and I won’t let them affect my career.

“By the way, I’m a soldier and I would never panic when I face challenges.

“Music wise, we are still doing our best and i do have faith in my fans who have been there for me over the years.”

Sulu says he has a devised a new game plan where he would announce his future products when the title is ripe.

He gave a hint that he might also release his new album next month.

“I my team say let’s release the album today or next month, why not?

“Anyway, I’m considering releasing mine next month and I’m not sure who else is also releasing theirs.

“In fact, I’m not bothered by what other artistes are planning because we don’t leave for people.

“In life you ought to live for yourself since it’s hard to please everybody.

“If you want to fail in life try to live for other people when in actual fact we are different people with different talents.”

Last year, Sulu released a polished album – “Jamboree” – whose launch coincided with his wedding.

However, the wedding drama stole the limelight at the expense of the album which endorsed by many as a triumph.

And many a fan still have faith Sulu has it takes to be in the elite league of stars owing to his creative edge.

Love or loathe at him, Sulu remains among the best!
