FORMER minister of ICT and Cyber Security, Supa Mandiwanzira, was arrested yesterday and is set to appear in court today to answer to allegations of criminal abuse of office.
Police deputy spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the position and said Mandiwanzira was in police custody to answer to some questions.
Mandiwanzira’s lawyers Advocates Thembi Magwaliba and Brian Hungwe under the instructions of Selby Hwacha issued a press statement to the effect that the former minister presented himself to the police yesterday morning upon their request.
“The police interviewed him in connection with allegations of abuse of office on two issues that he allegedly engaged Megawatt Company to do consultancy for Netone without going to tender.
“It is also alleged that he appointed his personal assistant, a Government employee at the deputy director level, to the Potraz Board violating the corporate governance principles,” read the statement.
Mandiwanzira is set to appear in court today.
