CHITUNGWIZA-based Taekwon-Do students from different martial arts clubs were awarded colour belts and certificates over the weekend.

Eighteen Taekwon-Do students were graded.

The grading ceremony was held last week in Chitungwiza with five clubs, Chang-Hon, Tiger, Fox, Taltat and Seke South, dominating.

Seke South Bosubumnim, Wesley Zirach said the grading ceremony was a step towards intensifying preparations for the upcoming African Championship.

“We had our grading ceremony as well as issuing certificates over the weekend to the colour belts who passed their grading.

“The individuals who were graded were drawn from five clubs in Chitungwiza and the colour belts were awarded from white to red belts.

“We are also intensifying our preparations for the first ever African Championship that is going to be held in Ethiopia next year August,” he said.

Zirach pleaded for sponsorship to boost martial arts in the country for future international tournaments.

“No one from Zimbabwe made it to the World Championships held a couple of weeks ago because we failed to get Visas.

“We would gladly appreciate it in future if the government and other individual corporates could take into consideration providing assistance to the sport in Zimbabwe,” he added.
