TAFADZWA DUBE BASHES LOVER
4 November 2016
HARARE City FC goalie, Tafadzwa Dube, was punished by the court for giving his girlfriend a hiding after she greeted another man whilst they were leaving Motor Action Sports Club in Harare.
The 31-year-old goal minder was also punished for pouring beer on his lover’s cellphone.
Dube was slapped with a US$50 fine for battering his girlfriend, Phiona Mbonga, after she greeted another man when he appeared at the Harare magistrates’ court.
He also risks being jailed for three months if he fails to pay the fine.
Magistrate Nomsa Sabarauta also sentenced the Harare City FC goal minder to three months wholly in jail but wholly set aside the term on condition he pays Phiona US$150 before November 28.
Dube admitted to the offences.
Circumstances leading to Dube’s arrest were that on October 24 he was in the company of Phiona when she greeted by another man as they were about to leave the place.
That did not go down well with Dube, who suspected that his girlfriend was greeting another boyfriend.
Dube then slapped Phiona in the face before he poured beer on her cellphone leaving it malfunctioning.
Irked by her boyfriend’s actions, Phiona went to lodge a complaint with the police leading to Dube’s arrest.
He was then taken to court where he admitted to physical abuse and negligently causing damage to property.
Dube admitted to the two offences before he was slapped with a US$50 fine and ordered to pay US$150, which is equivalent to the phone he damaged.
