Teen in trouble over fake money
3 January 2019
A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court accused of using fake money.
The minor appeared before Harare magistrate Rama Boe charged with using fake money.
“I was sent to buy sugar with fake notes I didn’t know they were fake.
“The shop owner dragged me to the police station and reported that I was trying to dupe him with fake money, of which I didn’t know anything.
“The person who sent me just said go and buy groceries and bring back my change.
“The person who sent me is not my relative, my father died and my mother lives in South Africa.
“I was assaulted by a police officer at Overspill police station,” he said.
The case was remanded to January 8 as the State will be looking for a probation officer for the minor. The boy remained in custody.
