Templeman pleads “Not Guilty”
29 May 2018
The trial for popular wheel-spinner and emcee Godfatha Templeman opened yesterday with the entertainer pleading not guilty to a kidnapping charge.
Born Simbarashe Maphosa 39 years ago, Templeman appeared before Harare magistrate Ruramai Chitumbura and the matter was deferred to June 8 for trial continuation.
Templeman said he only knew of the minor in question through social media interaction and the two also stay in the same neighbourhood.
He also told the court that after posting one of his shows on Facebook, the minor asked to join him on the trip to an event in Beitbridge to which he agreed.
Templeman further said that on their way, the two had a close chat that exposed the abuses that the minor was facing from her parents and was told the minor intended to flee the country to South Africa.
He said as a concerned guardian he promised to help the minor and even take her to Star FM’S Tilda Live show where she will get help.
When the two got back from Beitbridge, Templeman proceeded to book accommodation for the minor somewhere in Harare before she was noticed on March 31 at Avondale shops.
