Temwanjira dumps Shabanie
PREMIERSHIP top goalscorer, David Temwanjira, has left Shabanie Mine to join ZPC Kariba on a one year deal.
A close source confirmed the deal saying the striker had endured frustrations at Shabanie following the departure of coach Takesure Chiragwi and the club’s constrained financial situation.
“Temwanjira is joining ZPC Kariba this transfer window. He has already signed a one year contract that will expire next year mid-season. He has always had an interest in ZPC Kariba and he was delighted getting a call from them,” said the source.
“Apart from Temwanjira being frustrated by the departure of former coach Takesure Chiragwi, he was also affected by the team’s financial situation. Things will be better for him financially because at least he will be getting better than what he was getting at Shabanie,” said the source.
Several clubs had expressed an interest in him and according to reports, ZPC tabled the best offer.
“Several clubs wanted the player and ZPC came in with the best offer and got his signature. All the paper work is done and he is just waiting to be called and to be advised when to start training,” said the source.
Contacted for comment, Temwanjira could neither confirm nor deny the deal saying “why can’t you wait for the transfer window?”
“For now all I can say is that I am happy that several teams are after my signature which is a sign that I am pleasing many. It’s great knowing that people are noticing my efforts,” he said.
Temwanjira is leading the goal scoring chart followed by the duo of Terrence Dzvukamanja (Ngezi) and John Zhuwawu (CAPS) who are on eight goals each.
