13 July 2017
SEVERAL musicians have been lined up to perform at a prayer session in honour of soccer legend George Shaya.
Gospel music legend Baba Machanic Manyeruke will lead the line-up which also includes Mathias Mhere and Tocky Vibes.
The benefit prayer is spearheaded by the Tabernacle of Worship Family Ministries International led by Bishop Rogers Jeffery.
The prayer session is in partnership with soccer legends and the corporate world to honour the former footballer at the event slated for July 29 at the Glen Norah Hall Grounds near Specimen.
The Anglican Church choir, where Shaya’s wife is a congregant is also set to perform on the day together with Rugare St Luke Vabvuwi.
Bishop Jeff said all is in place for the day, urging people from all walks of life to attend. He said all the musicians will be performing for free.
“All the preparations are on course for the day. We want it to be a big day befitting of Shaya’s status. He is a big name in Zimbabwean football and we want the day to resemble that. I would like to thank all our sponsors and everyone who has been supportive of this initiative, with their support we will go far,” he said.
Bishop Jeff is known for several initiatives through his ministry such as the fight against HIV/AIDS.
“We are a Ministry in Glen Norah where George resides and it is our duty to care for our children. We have bonded with the family and we know we will have a big day,” he said.
The man of cloth said a person should be honoured and appreciated for their efforts while still existing.
Speaking to H-Metro Mathias Mhere who is fresh from a Canada tour said he is honoured to be part of the line-up.
