Tourist killed by crocodiles

A TOURIST was on New Year’s Eve attacked and killed by crocodiles in Matobos while his wife is in the intensive care unit at Mater Dei hospital.
John Bowman and Rosemary Mitchell were attacked while peddling in the crocodile-infested Mpopoma dam along with their colleagues.
National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority spokesperson Tinashe Farawo yesterday said the event “is tragic, unfortunate and regrettable”.
Farawo said the couple was using an air-pumped boat which is not permissible.
“It is unfortunate that a life has been lost. We encourage our tourists to stay away from wild animals, nomatter how domesticated they are, they can be dangerous,” said Farawo.
Farawo also said they are yet to ascertain the nationality of the tourists.
