SUPERSTAR Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi has left for Lagos, Nigeria where he was conferred with the Legend Award at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

The top performer, who sent the pictures of the gong to this publication, will celebrate the triumph along with fans at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton this Friday.

He is billed to share the stage with Ninja president Winky D, Agga Nyabinde, Hitondo and a number of artistes groomed at Pakare Paye.

But it should be mentioned that it is Tuku’s victory in Lagos which will certainly make Tuku’s show at Pakare Paye double celebrations.

In an interview, Tuku Music board vice chairperson, Faith Kadzura, could not hide their elation as the Black Spirits founder continue bagging more gongs.

“On behalf of Tuku Music board, we are so excited following mdhara’s recent victory in Lagos where he was conferred with the Legend Award at the All Africa Music Awards.

“Mdhara will be celebrating the award along with his fans at Pakare Paye on Friday where he is scheduled to share the stage with Winky D, Agga and Hitondo among others,” she said.

Kadzura it was all systems for the Friday gig where the board is expected to meet various stakeholders as they map a way forward.

Tuku’s triumph in Lagos also comes at a time when the new board will be unveiling its road map which they are set to follow during the term of office.

It won’t be an easy task as the Tuku Music brand needs handlers with the expertise and technical knowhow, critics say.

Among the tasks the board has been given is to mobilise old and new fans, booking local and regional shows ahead of the money-spinning festive season as well as promoting Tuku Music brand on various platforms.

Chaired by youthful businessman Tungamidzai Simango, the new board has vowed not to disappoint the icon and fans who expect a lot from the singer.

Other board members include Faith Kadzura of Faith Styles, Natalie Nyamutumbu, Charles Njekesa, Rutendo Chikwati, Robbie Chimhavi, Walter Wanyanya, Samantha Mtukudzi, Listening Magaso and Learning Magaso.

With the new brooms in office, it is hoped Tuku will continue to cement his romance with both new and old fans.

Following Tuku’s triumph in Lagos, the new board has a tough challenge ahead to ensure that Tuku continues to shine both locally and internationally.
