Winky D dominates Top 50 videos
3 January 2017
WINKY D emerged the biggest winner at this year’s Coca-Cola ZBC Top 50 videos after Rugare and My Woman were voted number one and two respectively.
The songs which featured Buffalo Souljah (Rugare) and Beenie Man (My Woman) came out as surprise winners ahead of Jah Prayzah who was tipped to scoop possibly the top five.
Jah Prayzah who won last year with Watora Mari lost to Winky D despite having a number of hits on YouTube on most of his videos like My Lilly, Chengetedza, Nziyo YeRudo and Sendekera compared to Winky D’s productions.
For example, Jah Prayzah’s My Lilly featuring Davido had over 2, 8 million views on YouTube while Winky D’s Rugare had just over 700 000 as of Sunday night but the videos were released during the same month.
Winky D’s videos garnered 5 555 and 5 389 votes respectively.
Jah Prayzah, however, made it into the top 10 with Nziyo YeRudo sitting on number 10 with 818 votes.
Some of his videos Chengetedza are on number 11 followed by Sendekera which features Mafikizolo on 12th position, his Military Touch Movement production Chekeche is on number 15 while My Lilly is on number 16.
And despite being popular on social media, the videos garnered fewer votes with My Lilly only managing 245 votes.
Meanwhile, Sniper Storm’s Tsvigiri Muhuchi is on third position with 4002 votes while Killer T’s Bvunza Tinzwe is on fourth with 3 824 votes.
Stunner completes the top five with his video Akarohwa Mari which features BaShupi managing 2 661 votes.
Gospel musician Rev Toggy Chivaviro has two videos in the top 10 – Maranatha (seven) Tariro Yangu (nine).
Sandra Ndebele is the only female artist in the top with her video Ingoma sitting on number eight.
Gospel rookie Best Masinire also made it into the Top 10 after his song Rooted in the Word was voted number six.
