Woman injured in train crash
1 August 2018
An unidentified woman escaped death in an accident with a train on the railway that demarcates Mufakose and Budiriro yesterday.
The woman was proceeding to Mufakose from Budiriro when she went past the railway line without properly estimating the speed of the train and she was hit by the train.
An onlooker said it was the seat belt that saved her life.
‘It seems like the seatbelt saved her life because when her car was bumped into, it prevented her from going out through the windscreen, however her car was badly damaged and swiped out of the railway line.”
“A well-wisher assisted her and took her to the police where he was intending to get a police statement to take her to the hospital,” he said.
The officer in charge at Marimba Police Station where the report was made, was not in a position to reveal details but confirmed that the accident had occurred and the woman was in a critical but stable condition at Avenues Hospital.
