‘. . . he was disturbing my drink with friends’
A 24-year-old Zvishavane woman is said to have had enough of her nagging boyfriend that she stabbed him several times in the chest leaving him unconscious after a beer binge.
Sauka Phiri was having drinks with friends when Thulani Phiri kept on disturbing her fun and she stabbed him, it is alleged.
For the alleged offence, Sauka was brought before Zvishavane magistrate Mr Shepherd Mjanja but she was not asked to plead to the charges of attempted murder.
When magistrate Mr Mjanja asked Sauka what transpired on the day she stabbed Thulani, she told the court that he was constantly disturbing her while she was drinking beer with some friends.
Sauka was remanded in custody to this Friday and she was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
Allegations are that on September 27, Sauka and Thulani were at Q I Nil Township in Zvishavane drinking beer when they had a misunderstanding.
Indications are that Sauka then went on to stab Thulani several times in the chest using an okapi knife.
Thulani sustained deep cuts on the chest leaving him unconscious, it is alleged.
The State further alleges that Sauka was seen committing the offence and that the knife she used to attack Thulani was found at her house.
