THE tourism industry is said to have unanimously agreed that the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds in Bulawayo are the best venue for the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo.

It was said that the venue is spacious and there are no restrictions on operations.

This also comes at a time when the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive Karikoga Kaseke said Bulawayo will hold tourism fete for the coming two years.

“We were forcing our Sanganai at Rainbow Tourism Group flagship hotel, the HICC.

“That was actually trying to force matters but here there is enough space for anyone to exhibit the amount of space that anyone want can get it here.

“And I think this is the beginning and after three years we are not saying we will leave Bulawayo.

“We will review because we brought Sanganai here to stimulate, as a stimulus for tourism business and we want to think that within three years if we have not done anything to revive the tourism economy in this region then we must all resign.

“Because we can’t fail to revive the tourism economy in Bulawayo for three years; that must be done and that will be done,” said Kaseke.

Kaseke also added that “we will never go to a city without facilities and try to hold Sanganai on the grounds where we then leave people charging us for having destroyed their grounds as we have been charged before, as having destroyed their grounds so we don’t want to see us being charged for destroying people’s grounds.

“So we will go where there are facilities that are adequate, that are good enough to hold Sanganai.

“If there is no such facility what does it mean, it means we remain here.

“I said for the next three years will be held here and thereafter we will look for another Sanganai on the hope that we have contributed significantly to tourism business here in this region.”

He also went on to say that they had a business plan for the Bulawayo region, which business plan he said he will make sure will be executed once it’s been agreed with the community.

Three halls and some other spaces/rooms at the ZITF grounds were being used for Sanganai events.
