The Zimbabwe International Women’s Awards (ZIWA) Trust has announced nominees for their fifth edition which will be held later this year in Nottingham, UK.

This year’s edition will be under the theme “ZIWA: Our Legacy” as the group celebrates five years of honouring the efforts of Zimbabwean women who are based locally and internationally.

ZIWA Founder, Juliana Jonathan, applauded women for having continuously defied norms and emerging victorious in different sectors.

“For the past five years we have been continually amazed at the fantastic achievements being made by Zimbabwean women across the world both in and out of the spotlight.

“Last year, when we held a smaller event which we called ‘The Power Bridge’ to connect closer together, there was a new generation of powerful young women that featured, and we thought to ourselves, “Wow, we are soon going to pass on the baton.”.

“That is what building a legacy is about, creating something that grows and grows and can be taken forward by the next generation,” she said.

Organisers have opened voting lines for the nominees.

ZIWA committee members and panelists will be picking winners for four extra categories namely: Courage Award, Founder’s Award, Life-time Achievement Award and the Panel Choice Award.
